View Full Version : how to buy Motorbike in Greece as German tourist?
Hello,
Does anybody know what I need to do as a German tourist to buy a motorbike in Greece and export it to Germany (after touring Greece of course :). It is difficult to find any information. I want to buy it in Alexandroupolis or Kavala. Do you know of a good dealer there (used motorbikes would be best) who speaks English or German?
Do you know if I need to get a Greek tax number and how long this takes and where to get it?
Also, I am looking for information on how to get an international registration / licence plate and insurance.
Thank you for any help you can offer.
Katja
Sincerely

Kindly refer to our own (http://www.moto.gr/forums/member.php?u=13137) person in Alexandroupolis and Kavala.
He does not own a motorcycle as we speak but he is involved in this kind of transactions.

Hi
I know about a british student at Kavala that was for 3 months and wanted to buy a motorcycle.
I know that he did manage to buy one.
I will send you details of the dealer that he did buy it from (he speaks english).
What type of bike are you interested? Maybe it is cheaper to buy it from Germany, ship it to Greece tour around and then either sell it here or ship it back to Germany.
Also there is the option to ride from Germany to Greece :D

I am also from Alexandroupolis..
Replying to what member Sapadak asked, is a good way to start in order to get any help at all..
Either way we are here to answer any questions in general and we'll try to provide guidance the best way we can.
Hi, thanks for you quick responses.
It is not cheaper to buy in Germany, but maybe would have been easier for me.
However, I am already nearby northern Greece.
If you can send me the contact info of the dealer in Kavala where the british student bought a motorbike, that would be great.
I am looking for road/naked/touring/similar bikes priced around 2000 Euro max.
Thanks!

I have send you a pm with the dealer details
You won't find easily what you look with 2000 euros, maybe just really old models.

you can check this link (http://athens.angloinfo.com/information/money/general-taxes/afm-tax-number/) for greek tax number, which is mandatory if you want to buy a motorcycle in Greece

Start by contacting the dealer as Sapadak told you.. You never know you might solve your "problems" really easy and fast..
Feel free to discuss anything that might troubles you though..
By the way member MikeG is also quite right.. The price you are talking about (2K euro) will give you better choices in Ahtens and Thessaloniki rather than the rest of Greece.. But that is something you probably already know, cause it happens everywhere...
