Η Yamaha παρουσίασε την πλήρη γκάμα ανταλλακτικών αγωνιστικής χρήσης για το νέο R6 2008. Ο στάνταρ κινητήρας των 133 ίππων έχει γίνει ακόμη πιο δυνατός με αρκετά μέρη του να είναι σχεδιασμένα ώστε να πληρούν τους κανονισμούς των παγκοσμίων αγώνων supersport.

Αυτό σημαίνει πως ο στρόφαλος και το κιβώτιο ταχυτήτων είναι άθικτα, εκτός από το kit που επιτρέπει την ρύθμιση του συμπλέκτη. Τα ελατήρια του συμπλέκτη είναι δυνατότερα και μια αντλία λαδιού υψηλής πίεσης θα λιπάνει κατάλληλα τον κινητήρα κάτω από τις σκληρές προϋποθέσεις του αγώνα.

Επίσης διατίθενται κιβώτια ταχυτήτων διαφορετικών αναλογιών, παρ’ όλα αυτά είναι στο χέρι του αναβάτη να επιλέξει.
Ο ηλεκτρονικός εγκέφαλος έρχεται με τροποποιημένη ανάφλεξη και με βασική χαρτογράφηση (με συνοδεία λογισμικού και μετατροπές), ενώ υπάρχει και το καλώδιο σύνδεσης της μοτοσικλέτας με το computer για αλλαγές ρυθμίσεων.

For the 2008 season Yamaha have taken the outstanding YZF-R6 to an even higher level by uprating the engine and chassis for even more remarkable performance on the street and track. Featuring a higher 13.1:1 compression ratio, YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake), and running with revised settings for the YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) - as well as featuring a modified fuel injection system and a new-shape high-efficiency airbox - the new '08 model is a leading contender in the supersport class.

Besides these performance-boosting engine changes, Yamaha have also made a number of significant improvements to the chassis for 2008. For even sharper handling and turning, the latest R6 features a newly-designed Deltabox frame and swingarm offering a revised strength and rigidity balance. The 41mm diameter fork outer tubes and fork offset are modified for improved suspension feel, while a new magnesium subframe saves weight. And for improved aerodynamics and enhanced controllability the rider position is moved to a lower and more forward position.

With the addition of YEC engine and chassis racing kit parts, this
high-specification machine can be transformed into a race-winning Supersport race machine.
