Street Triple Recall - Rear Suspension Unit
Friday, February 29, 2008

There is a very small risk that the rear suspension unit may lose its damping performance leading to poor ride quality under extreme riding conditions. Triumph takes rider safety very seriously and therefore has decided to recall and replace all affected units. Triumph is writing to all affected owners to recommend the rear suspension unit be replaced. Anyone who wishes to confirm whether their machine is affected is asked to contact their local dealer or use the VIN Enquiry option contained within the Technical section of this website.

Although the Street Triple is safe to ride in the meantime, owners are advised to make early arrangements to have a new rear suspension unit fitted to their bike. All authorised Triumph dealers have been briefed of the recall.

In-service monitoring has identified a potential problem with the rear suspension unit fitted to a small number of Triumph Street Triples (vins: 316225 to 343763).

Triumph has identified a potential problem with the handlebar risers on a limited number of Speed Triple motorcycles. The models affected are from the 2008 model year from VIN number 356308 to 359180.

Feedback from our factory has indicated that a small number of machines have encountered handlebar to clamp movement. Our in-factory checks give us confidence that it is extremely unlikely that motorcycles incorporating this concern have been released to the marketplace. However, rider safety is of the utmost importance to Triumph and therefore we are recalling this model to fit new handlebar risers.

Affected models should be taken to an approved Triumph dealership for new risers to be fitted. The modification will be carried out free of charge and should take no longer than 30 minutes.

Triumph has written to all registered owners of 2008 model Speed Triples, affected by this action advising them of the recall and urging them to contact their local Triumph dealership. Any one who wishes to confirm whether their machine is affected is asked to contact their local dealer or use the VIN Enquiry option contained within the Technical section of Triumph’s website.

All Triumph authorised dealers are aware of the full details of this action.
