Dynamic Damping Control: intelligent damping control for increased safety.
Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) is the next safety-related technology being introduced for BMW Motorrad serial production models, achieving a new stage of evolution within the comprehensive BMW Motorrad concept "Safety 360°".
DDC is a semiactive suspension system which automatically adapts the suspension elements to changing road surfaces and riding manoeuvres. Within just a few milliseconds the sensors in the dampers detect whether the motorcycle is braking or accelerating, what its banking angle is and on what type of surface it is moving.
Based on these parameters, the damper valves are adjusted in such a way that the correct level of damping force is always applied, whatever the situation. The result is an absolutely supreme and dynamic driving response - even in the case of fast manoeuvres and load changes.
DDC works on an interconnected basis, just like the other BMW assistance systems. This means that the parameters measured during travel are exchanged with systems such as Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and the standard ABS. So you will experience DDC not as a regulatory system which intervenes in ride response but as a function which provides assistance and support as needed for you to enjoy safe riding pleasure.
