Well, where do I start with this big old piece of turd? It is certainly not Hinkleys fault but they maybe should look at some sort of vetting before allowing its previous owner near their creation. He now is BMWs problem as he showed me his fine K1200s when I collected this bike from him.
He seemed a fine if not simple fella but his skinned knuckles and squint eyes should have sent alarm bells ringing for me but with all the excitement of my bargain new bike and to my peril I chose to ignore it
We all know the joy or should I say excruciating pain in the hole that is buying a used bike....well,
it turns out I have bought the latest victim of the most Ham Fisted Buffoon every to touch a bike.....seriously! This guy needs to buy a torque wrench then stick it where the sun dont shine and once this is done beat himself with said wrench if he ever even thinks of touching a bike again.. Every nut and bolt I have had to removed was over tightened and sadly, today the leaking water pump has been my final straw. One of the bolts has been over tightened and there is some of the bolt left in there when the rest give up on me today just outside Banchory. I now have had enough of it, him and wasted time sorting it out. Annoying thing is I think this could be it fnally sorted after this is fixed but I could now careless.
I have had to sort so much ham fistedness out that I am now done. In fact I would rather run naked through giant hornets than spend another day in my garage sorting out another messed up bodge job from said buffoon.
I have to date replaced and sorted the following.
Breather hoses were not attached
Fuel lines not connected securely
New battery
Brake calipers and pads as they where rung/threads stripped and then JB welded.....only an idiot would try this and then ride off thinking it was safe.
All wheel bearings had been ruined as the axle was tightened in a manner your dad did his Vauxhall Viva nuts in 1978 when he stood on the brace.
Steering head now has some fine new tapered bearings as low an behold these where shot as well.
Other bonuses are
New chain
Good tyres
New plugs
Lovely new pipercross filter and Denton stacks.
Good brakes and calipers
Panniers OEM and colour coded
Scotoiler if thats your thing
Heated grips
Triumph Datatool alarm
2 keys and 2 fobs
MOT til Oct
Its got a great strong motor, the bike runs well, goes and stops as it should. Its a lovely clean bike and the water pump works just needs either helicoiled or retapped on one thread but I am done.
I have 4 bikes in total so don't need this or any more of its troubles.
This bike could be a great buy for someone or your worst nightmare, what is for certain. Once it leaves my garage I do not want to hear from it or its happy new owner ever again.
I will be selling this shitbag with no reserve and a £1 start price. On a 10 day auction.
