Sito Pons favourite for final MotoGP grid place?
Sito Pons has emerged as favourite for the final MotoGP grid place available for 2017.
KTM's arrival in the premier-class will raise the present grid to 23 entries, one short of the target figure.
As such IRTA, FIM and Dorna recently invited applications for the 24th place. The initial submission deadline is Friday 29th April.
But according to Speedweek.com it will go to Pons.
The Spaniard currently runs the title-winning Paginas Amarillas HP 40 Moto2 team, but prior to 2006 he had a multi race-winning Honda 500cc/MotoGP project featuring the likes of Alex Barros, Loris Capirossi, Makoto Tamada and Max Biaggi.
Pons' potential choice of 2017 machinery is unclear, but next year's rules state that each manufacturer is obliged to supply two satellite machines if requested. Honda, Yamaha and Ducati already fulfil such criteria, but Suzuki and Aprilia currently have no satellite entries.
Speedweek also suggests Pons is keen to rehire its former Moto2 champion Pol Espargaro as the rider. The Spaniard's place at Tech 3 is safer following Bradley Smith's 2017 switch to KTM, but Espargaro may feel he has little room to progress within Yamaha - assuming Jorge Lorenzo stays.
As well as Espargaro, Maverick Vinales passed through the Pons Moto2 team on his way to MotoGP. Alex Rins (pictured with Pons) is tipped to continue the trend by joining Yamaha next season, although if Pons gets the MotoGP place maybe he could convince Rins to stay...

Injury free, Dani Pedrosa aims to make further progress with both himself and his bike at the Argentina GP.
Ending the Qatar GP in fifth place and injury free provided Dani Pedrosa with a solid start to the 2016 season, Pedrosa is in a much better position than in 2015. The situation is still far from ideal as Pedrosa has a litany of changes that he feels still need to be made to himself and the bike. Finishing 14 seconds behind the race winner is not where Pedrosa wants to be and he knows he can do better once solutions to his problems are found. With his Repsol Honda Team teammate, Marc Marquez, taking third in Qatar, there is clearly potential within the RC213V.
2016 will be Pedrosa’s second ever visit to Termas de Rio Hondo, the Spaniard having missed the 2015 edition due to arm pump surgery. In 2014, his first visit to the circuit, Pedrosa managed second place. His aim for the race is to close the gap to the leaders, once that is achieved he can begin to think about fighting for the podium. The Gran Premio Motul de la República Argentina is also the first of the back-to-back races of 2016 with Austin following the week after. This too will be a test of Pedrosa’s physical condition, though he believes this will be little to no problem.
Dani Pedrosa: “At the Qatar GP, we made a consistent step forward with the setup compared to the winter test. We improved our pace and I was able to maintain it during the race, with good consistency. The positives were that my arm worked well at a track that has proven challenging in that respect in the past, and that we were able to learn more about the new bike. But it’s still not enough; we need to improve the riding position, the way the bike behaves on the track and the setup in general in order to find better speed, because at the moment the gap to the leaders is still too big. That will be our target for Argentina. I didn’t race here last season but I have good memories of the track from 2014, I like the layout and I hope we’ll be able to take another step.”

Ναι αλλα πρόσεξες καγκουριά, μονο το Ντουκάτι έχει πινακίδα τα άλλα πρέπει να είναι "Ελληνικά" μηχανάκιαΑντε μωρέ με τους κάγκουρες και τα μηχανακια χωρίς πινακίδες.
