Another concert held in Germany hardly has the appeal of Live Earth. To appreciate this concert one must have an especially attuned ear.

The roar of motorbikes never ceases to annoy many. The sound can be loud enough to damage the hearing. But not everyone dislikes the noise. Some hear an amazing melody. 25 German motor bikers performed what they call the world's first "bike symphony." So there they were, at an open air concert in the German city of Saarbruecken, roaring to the accompaniment of a small band.

Conductor Donatas Katkus led the bikers through several pieces of music and amid wild gestures, exhorted the riders to rev those engines.

The number of participants doubled expectations and several hundred spectators came out to hear the "10,000 horse power concert."

Stefan Kaden, bike symphony organiser, said, "The motorbike noise and the symphony music go together well. Both produce sounds and if you put them together intelligently you can actually perform a nice song - even a symphony!"

Jenny Kalz, motor biker, said, "I think it fits together really well because it's possible to produce music with a motorbike by revving the engine. We repeated what the orchestra played. Maybe you heard the waltz? "

For the motorbike virtuosos their cycles not only are a way to get around, they're also instruments of music.
