Άντε να έρθει το 2016 να ξεκουμπιστεί η Bridgestone και να καταργηθεί η Open (αυτό κυρίως) και η συνεπακόλουθη μ@@%#%@ με το μαλακότερο ελαστικό που περισσότερο προς όφελος της Open (και δη της Ducati) έχει βγει καθότι αυτό το σκληρότερο πίσω ελαστικό τα Factory πρέπει να το έχουν χρησιμοποιήσει σε 3 αγώνες max (τα Yamaha). Η dorna ανακοίνωσε οτι θα μπει στο καλεντάρι και το gp της Αυστρίας (που φιλοξένησε φέτος αγώνα της Formula1)
όπου μετα απο 20 χρόνια θα ξαναγίνει αγώνας. Η πίστα ειναι η Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

Ενώ οδηγικά είναι στάνταρ ανώτερος από τον RdP έως και 1 δευτερόλεπτο (κρίνοντας από το 2013), το Suzuki ήταν σε τελική πιο αργό και από τα Open Honda και καμιά 20ριά χλμ κάτω από τον Marquez. Τρελή διαφορά δύναμης... Τα ηλεκτρονικά τους όπως λένε και οι ίδιοι δεν είναι πουθενά κοντά στο επίπεδο που θα πρέπει να είναι για MotoGP. Έχει πολύ δουλειά μπροστά της η Suzuki...

προβλεπω να ριχνει πολυ ξυλο ο Crutchlow με το honda...

μακάρι, να ξέχασε να οδηγεί και αυτός ( όπως πολλοί έλεγαν για τον γιατρό ) λίγο δύσκολο, διάβασα ότι στις σημερινές πρώτες δοκιμές έκανε χρόνο 6 δέκατα πάνω απ τον καλύτερο χρόνο που είχε με την DUCATI την οποία και καβάλαγε ένα χρόνο τώρα, πολύ θετικό. Πολυ ευχαριστημένος δήλωσε ο aleix Espargaro με την Suzuki, μίλησε για πολυ καλό πλαισιο κ καλύτερα ηλεκτρονικά απ την open yamaha. Πάντως αν δείτε τους χρόνους ειναι 1.3 απ την κορυφή με 20khm λιγότερα τελικής που δικαιολογούν αυτήν την διαφορά.

Both Miller and Viñales were sent out with no traction control and no wheelie control for the first day of the test, standard procedure for new riders in MotoGP. The pair have to understand how the bike feels before they can get any benefit from the electronics, and so they were given a softer power map and sent out to experiment. With each exit, the teams step up the power, until the riders feel they have a grip on the bike. Only then are the electronics turned back up again, with riders chasing the performance benefits the electronics can offer.

Suzuki project leader Satoru Terada has confirmed that the factory is developing a seamless gearbox, which it hopes will be ready for the GSX-RR's full-time debut in MotoGP 2015.

As the rain pelted down on the second day of testing at Valencia, Terada and Suzuki team manager Davide Brivio sat down with the press to discuss the GSX-RR's technical capabilities, with the special gearbox one of their priorities.

Terada said, “It is under development. Our target will bring it as soon as possible [to the track]. Our target is the start of the season, I hope.” Brivio added, “The gearbox also takes time to be approved for the track to make many tests.”

The pair were unwilling to confirm whether the factory are developing their own gearbox or asking another company to do so.

Suzuki is switching to Magneti Marelli electronics - control hardware and bespoke software - after using Mitsubishi powered systems in the past. Terada confirmed that he has been impressed with the potential of the new system.

“It was very hard [to adapt],” he said. “We have longer experience with the Mitsubishi system. [Magneti] Marelli system is quite new to us so we spend a lot of time to develop this Marelli ECU. It's a very powerful ECU so we already there are many possibilities with this.”

The GSV-R, Suzuki's 2002-2011 MotoGP machine, ran a V4 engine configuration. For 2015 they have reverted to an inline four cylinder layout. Terada confirmed that this move was made to bring their racing activities in line with their production line.

“[The] Suzuki company was thinking the racing activity is very important related to our production bike. We don't have V4 engine for production bike. The inline four engine is in the production bike and that's why we choose [this engine] when we come back.

“[It's a] Little bit difficult to get power. But I believe we can get this power for racing. We have a minor problem now; the horsepower is a little bit down compared to the dyno [speed]. The conditions are different from the dyno to the track. We have problems on track and we are investigating.”
Brivio also stated that the current engine was detuned slightly in a bid to remedy the reliability issues. “Because of durability problems we didn't the use the power. We are using the engine 'under-powered'. Maybe when the reliability is fixed we can use more.”

Suzuki was pleased with the first impressions of both Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Viñales concerning the chassis after the first day of testing on Monday. Both Spaniards complemented the GSX-RR's front-end feel and Terada confirmed this was a priority when the bike's design was under consideration.

“Yesterday they give some comments about the chassis – especially the front side is very comfortable,” he said. “This is also our target, turning the bike. This is very good for us. At the moment they feel comfortable on the front compared to the rear. We need more time to get information, at the moment we only have half a day.”

Along with stating that the machine doesn't utilise all of the 24 allocated litres of fuel available to the Ducati, Suzuki and Aprilia machines, Terada and the factory have high expectations for the upcoming season.

“The project is very new. We know that this is a very big challenge for Suzuki. Our target for next year, we will try for the podium. After three years we want to be challenging for championships.”

Suzuki aware of reliability issues

Suzuki declared themselves pleased with their wildcard appearance at the season ending Valencia Grand Prix, despite the reliability issues their brand new GSX-RR machine suffered throughout the weekend which was prematurely ended after Randy de Puniet had to retire from the race with gearbox issues.

Despite the issues, project leader Satoru Terada stated that the team were fully aware of the cause and confirmed that they will be fixed by next year’s test at the Sepang Internation Circuit in February.

Our MotoGP engine already has good durability on the dyno but unfortunately this weekend we found some problems on track. When we fix these problems we will get more speed and more power. We know what happened in the engine but unfortunately we don’t have the time to fix it, but it will be fixed by Sepang. Basically I believe the potential of our bike isn’t too bad already.

Former Yamaha Team Manager Davide Brivio has declared the decision to race here a success despite the issues faced over the weekend, as it is only in competitive action that they are able to accurately judge the level of their performance. Another reason for racing this weekend was to reward test rider Randy de Puniet who did not race this year to concentrate on testing the Suzuki ahead of their return.

We spent a lot of time testing in the last year with de Puniet,” said Brivio. “We think that he did a very good job because of the fact that we have arrived here with a bike that is not so bad. Suzuki decided to come back into MotoGP for 2015 but we wanted to race as soon as possible and the first opportunity was to come here as a wild-card in order to understand our level and to pick up information.

It was a very good decision because in the race you learn a lot and you see the level of our competitors, during testing you can only guess. We also wanted to reward Randy with a gift for his final step of development with us and we wanted to thank him with this race.

Immediately after the race, Suzuki’s riders for 2015, Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, took to the track for their Suzuki debuts as they get their first taste of their new bike after moving from NGM Forward Racing and Moto2 respectively.

Brivio continued:

Yesterday we really started our job with Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales and it was a good starting day. Our target for coming here was to get information so that we can use it next four months before the season starts to be as well prepared as possible. The first race isn’t the end of the world, this is a medium term project and we won’t be ready 100% by the first race but we’ll continue the job of any competitor during the season.

Nobody expects Suzuki to be challenging for race wins from the first race of the season and they’ll be looking on next season as a way to measure progress and gather data ahead of the big changes coming to the sport in 2016 where the tyre manufacturer will change from Bridgestone to Pirelli and the spec ECU will have to be used by all teams. By competing this season they can test themselves and be in much better position to compete in 2016 having had one year of racing experience.

Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez is unhappy with the changes Honda made to his RC213V for the Valencia test and says they must find a compromise between the 2014 and 2015 chassis before the Valencia test.

Marquez spent all of yesterday using the 2015 prototype, which has revised engine and frame, but went out on the 2014 bikes in his last exit and immediately set the quickest time of the three days.

“At the moment, the character of the engine I don’t like is the way of the engine brake. It was locking a lot so we must go on the other side. On the exit of the corner it looks a little bit too aggressive but we can manage that with electronics,” said Marquez, speaking at Valencia.

“The problem is the chassis is a real part I didn’t like. I was not able to make the best line on the corner and when you are not on the best line from mid-corner to exit you aren’t on the correct speed and everything coming worse.

“In one day, is difficult to say. The positive is where I was struggling more on the last part with the brakes we improve but then they try another thing in the chassis on the rear, on that part I don’t like. We need to make a compromise between chassis to improve.

“We can try many things, geometries, we didn’t play with the setup, but I am happy because they understand well what I need. I set my best lap on the current bike after spending all day on the new prototype.

“The biggest difference here was the engine, but that affect that chassis directly. Brno is totally different and there it was working well but here the rear part I didn’t like it. We must find the best compromise for Malaysia test.”
